Anna May Rachael (Walsh) Whitman, 77, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 5, 2015 in Cedar Haven Nursing Home, Lebanon.  She was born Thursday, January 13, 1938 in Bronx, NY, the youngest of seven children to the late Charles and Margaret (Ford) Walsh.  She was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Arthur J. Whitman.    

She retired from the Clara Maass Medical Center as their activities director.  She enjoyed serving others as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.  Anna May moved from New Jersey to Palmyra following retirement and enjoyed being able to spend time with her grandchildren.  Most importantly she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. 

She is survived by a daughter, Margaret A. Purcell and husband Jim of Cleona; 2 sons, Stephen Whitman of NJ and Brian P. Whitman of NJ; 2 daughter-in-laws, Linda Whitman of Parkville, MD and Lisa Papp of Belleville, NJ; 5 grandchildren, Jason and Kristopher Purcell, Scott, Jr. and Kerilynn Whitman, and Megann Whitman; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a son, Scott J. Whitman. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 13th at noon at St. Cecilia Church, 202 E. Lehman St., Lebanon, PA 17046 with Rev. Michael Laicha as celebrant.  Burial will follow in Hershey Cemetery, Hershey.  Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10 AM until time of mass.
