Brett J. Barker

Brett J. Barker, 51, of Mechanicsburg passed away with family by his side on Tuesday, June 6, 2017.  He was born March 26, 1966 in Hershey to the late Gilbert Joseph, Sr. and Joan Lauretta (Miller) Barker.

Brett graduated from Palmyra High School with the class of 1984 and graduated from Harrisburg Area Community College with his associates.  He worked at Klick Lewis for many years, was employed in the security and public safety field, and most recently was employed by HACC’s Communications Department.  Brett also worked part time for SPAR Gun Shop on the Carlisle Pike.  He was a member of the NRA and was an avid hunter, enjoying all shooting sports.  One of his favorite hobbies was watching his nephews participate in sports and was a proud member of the Du Bois Area Youth Football Boosters. 

He is survived by a brother, Gilbert J. Barker, Jr.; 2 nephews, Gilbert J. and Walter J. Barker; and was married to Christine E. Mullen on May 18, 2001.  He was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Elizabeth M. Barker. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at noon at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078 with Stephan Ampersand officiating.  Family and friends are invited for visitation from 11 AM until time of the service.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Salem Cemetery, near Du Bois, PA.    

In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made in his honor to the Angelman Syndrome Foundation 75 Executive Dr., Suite 327, Aurora, IL 60504.  

Condolence cards may be mailed directly to the family or to the funeral home to forward to the family.
