Britton Finkenbinder Obituary

Britton Anthony Finkenbinder, 15, of Carlisle, died on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at his home in Carlisle.  He was born Wednesday, November 27, 2002 in Carlisle to Clair M. “Trip” Finkenbinder III and Eileen (Yeckley) Finkenbinder.  He was predeceased by his sister, Cara Marie Finkenbinder in 2000.

A handsome young man, an infectious smile that lit up a room, and a constant kindness shown to everyone—that was Britton.  He was in the 10th grade at Big Spring High School where he was a member of the wrestling team, a Bulldog through and through, “Ever, always strong.”  He had dreams of following in his father’s footsteps by joining the US Air Force and forging his path to become an electrical engineer.  He was the co-owner of Fink Racing fielding the number 17J Wingless Super Sportsman and was the driver of the number 17 PA Micro Midget.  His brilliant knowledge of electrical systems marveled folks from the garage to the racetrack.  Although beautifully perfect on the outside, he was secretly fighting something on the inside.  Please honor Brit by helping his family make something good out of this senseless tragedy.

In addition to his loving parents, he is survived by paternal grandparents, Clair M. and Karen L. Finkenbinder Jr. of Carlisle; maternal grandparents, Richard A. and Jean M. Yeckley of Harrisburg; two uncles, Travis S. Finkenbinder and wife Rebecca A. of Palmyra and Richard A. Yeckley of Palmyra; three cousins, Cael, Cade and Cole Finkenbinder; Trip’s companion, Missie Zeger and her daughter Emily L. Zeger of Carlisle.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 3rd at 10:30 AM at The Meeting House Church, 1155 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, PA 17015 with Pastor Larry Rieck officiating.  Family and friends are invited to a visitation period of food and fellowship at the Two Mile House, 1189 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle immediately following the memorial service.  Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.  A special invitation to attend the service is extended to the students, faculty and staff of the Big Spring School District.  Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 has been entrusted with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Central PA Chapter, 120 Wall Street, 29th Floor, New York, NY 10005 or www.afsp.org.  Memories and condolences can be shared at www.finkenbinderfamily.com
