Charles “Charlie” R. Eyer, 78, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in Lebanon.  He was born Sunday, July 30, 1939 to the late Carlton and Margaret (Gallager) Eyer.  Charles is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Donna C. (Waltz) Eyer.

He was a 1957 graduate of the Milton Hershey School where he learned his machinist trade and went on to work at Bethlehem Steel, Steelton for 44 years in mechanical maintenance.  Charles was a fan of the outdoors and had a passion for gardening.  Charles was an avid shopper at flee-markets and also garage sales where he would find several different items to bring home and collect.  He enjoyed spending time on his property along with traveling, specifically to Maine.  Another one of his favorite spots was to Hawaii where he traveled to twice.  Charles was very close with his son Russell, and enjoyed aiding him throughout his long Boy Scout career.  He also loved traveling to different national parks.  Most importantly he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his loving wife he is survived by two daughters, Saundra D. Siefring and husband Francis P. III of Annville, and Sherry D. Lemon of Harrisburg; 4 grandchildren, Aaron E. Funck U.S. Air force and wife Shannon, Christopher B. Siefring and companion Emily, Jacob R. Lemon, and Kati M. Lemon; nephew Joel Waltz; Sisters-in-law, Joyce Ash and husband Lee and Theresa Farlow and husband Troy and family; mother-in-law Mary Waltz who he highly adored; his two K9 companions Summer and Misty who always had a spot on each side of Charles on the recliner; and several friends and extended family including other nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by a son Russell E. Eyer, a brother Carlton Eyer, a sister Jane (Heisey) Eyer, a grandson Jeffrey Siefring, and father-in-law Donald Waltz.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, 17078.  A memorial service and burial at Gravel Hill Cemetery will be held at a later date.
