Doris F. (Stopfel) McCorkel

Doris Fay (Stopfel) McCorkel, 86, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in Carlisle Regional Hospital.  She was born Monday, July 7, 1930 in Derry Township to the late Elwood and Bernice (Batdorf) Stopfel.  She was predeceased by her loving husband Lloyd G. McCorkel, Sr.. 

Doris was a hard working farmer’s wife who dedicated her life to her children.  She always enjoyed when her family got together but was happiest when all of her children were with her.  She also found great joy in tending to her flower beds and garden.  
 
She is survived by 6 children, Mary Jane Cohick and husband James, Joseph McCorkel and wife Susan, John McCorkel and wife Tracey, Doris Farmer and husband Jerry, Ruth March and husband Bill, and Jean Sheaffer and husband Paul; 23 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 6 sisters.  She was predeceased by 3 children, Lloyd McCorkel, Jr., Daniel McCorkel, and an infant daughter, Rebecca; a granddaughter, Jeanette Burkett; a great-grandson, Zachary; and 3 siblings.  

Funeral services will held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 11 AM at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 420 Park Dr., Carlisle 17015 with Pastor Matthew Plant officiating.  Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10 AM until time of the service.  Burial will take place on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11 AM at Fishburn Cemetery, 1215 Fishburn Rd., Hershey 17033.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078.
