Florence C. Light

Florence Catherine (Messick) Hoffer Light, 97, of Palmyra died on Sunday, November 6, 2015 at Lebanon Valley Brethren Home. Born in Warrenton, VA, she was the daughter of the late Daniel S. and Fannie D. (Rankin) Messick. She was widowed by her first husband Arlin L. Hoffer in 1993. She was then married to Adam E. Light for 15 years until his passing in 2015.

Florence worked at J. Landis Shoe Company as a skiver. She was a member of Palmyra Church of the Brethren. Church and her faith were a major part of her life. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, being a grandmother, and tending her impressive rose gardens.

She is survived by her daughter Carolyn L. Nave; two grandchildren Brian Zimmerman (Kimberly), and Kimberly Hershberger (Ben); three great grandchildren Meagan, Breanna, and Danielle, andsister Frances S. Sager. She was preceded in death by her brothers Albert W. and Harry L. Messick. She is also survived by her step family, Harry (Dorothy), Louise (Dennis), Robert (Carol), Nancy, Karen, Ray, and Pearl, as well an abundance of grandchildren, great, and great great grandchildren

A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Palmyra Church of the Brethren, 45 N. Chestnut St., Palmyra, PA 17078 with Pastor Dennis M. Lohr officiating. Burial at Grandview Memorial Park will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078. 838-9211.
