Frederick J. Moury, 98, of Palmyra, finished his earthly race and entered eternal life with his Savior on June 1, 2016.

Born in Cranston, Rhode Island, on July 22, 1917, he was the son of the late Andrew and Annie Rosen Moury.  He was married for nearly 67 years to Almira Pratt Moury, who died in 2008.

A graduate of Brown University, Fred was a lifelong electrical engineer with General Electric.  He designed switchgear for the Washington, D.C. Metro and cherished memories of helping fabricate the first electrical system for Rift Valley Academy in Kenya.

He lived in Delaware County for over 40 years and was an elder and Sunday School teacher at Aldan Union Church.  Since moving to Palmyra in 1986, he worshiped at Lebanon Valley Bible Church, where he was particularly supportive of missionary interests.  He had a special place in his heart for Wycliffe Bible Translators, because of a daughter and two grandsons’ service with that organization. He was also active with the independent living residents at Lebanon Valley Brethren Home and frequently taught Sunday School there.  A committed follower of Jesus Christ, Fred leaves a godly heritage of faith and service.

Witty, generous, and fun, Fred especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was an ardent reader, avid Phillies fan, and master Scrabble player.

He is survived by a daughter, Caroline, married to Frederic W. Yocum, Jr., Pembroke, NH; two sons:  Rev. Frederick J. Moury, Jr., married to Miriam Brandt, Lititz, PA; and Andrew W. Moury, married to Sally Fiddler, McKeesport, PA; and a son-in-law, James Farr, Papua New Guinea, widower of his late daughter, Cynthia Moury Farr.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren:  Nancy Johnson, Martha James, Jamie Farr, Daniel Moury, Rachel Moury, Jennifer Greenland, Beth Huey, and Lisa Lewis; and 16 great grandchildren.  In addition to his wife and daughter, he was predeceased by a grandson, Stephen Yocum, and a sister, Frances Potter Fallon.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the DiMatteo Worship Center at Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, 1200 Grubb Road, Palmyra, PA  17078 preceded by a viewing from 1:00-2:00.  Interment will take place in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made designated for the Missionary Fund of Aldan Union Church, 7 E. Providence Road, Aldan, PA  19018-4020; Good Samaritan Fund of LVBH, 1200 Grubb St., Palmyra, PA   17078; or Wycliffe Bible Translators, PO Box 628211, Orlando, FL   32862-8211.  Arrangements have been entrusted with the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA  17078, 717-838-9211.
