Harold W. Risser, Jr., 86, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Lebanon, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. Born in South Annville, Twp., Lebanon County, he was the son of the late Harold W. and Violet I. (Wolfe) Risser. He was the husband of RuthAnn (Rhoads) Risser of Lebanon. They were married for 62 years in June.
A farmer, Mr. Risser retired in 1994 after serving 28 years as the Register of Wills for Lebanon County. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Campbelltown, where he served as a deacon and elder, and was a former board member of United Church of Christ Homes. He was a member of the Republican Committee serving 32 years in S. Annville Twp. and was a member of the Annville Rotary Club for 22 years. Harold was a member and Past Master of Mount Lebanon Lodge #226 F&AM, and member of York Rite Bodies, Harrisburg Consistory, Rajah Shrine and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon. Additionally, He was a member of the Harrisburg and Lebanon Republican Clubs, Past President and Secretary of the Register of Wills Association of PA, and Past President of the PA Elected County Officials.
Harold also served in the US Army Signal Corps. during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons: Harold W. Risser, Lebanon; John T. Risser, Lebanon and Andrew L. Risser (Kate), Reading; three daughters: Mary Vi Risser, Tupelo, MS; Alice A. Harding (Randy), Lottsburg, VA and Rebecca L. Risser, Lebanon; a sister Florence B. Umberger (Donald), Fontana; six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Harold was predeceased by a brother Roger L. Risser.
There will be no viewing. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM in Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA. A funeral service will take place on Saturday in Salem United Church of Christ Church, 2761 Horseshoe Pike, Campbelltown at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
A Masonic Service will be conducted by Mt. Lebanon Lodge #226 on Friday at the funeral home at 7:00PM.
