Harry Woods Arndt

Harry Woods Arndt, 87, of Hershey, went to be with his Lord Jesus on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.  He was born Monday, May 12, 1930 to the late Thomas E. and Cleona E. (Woods) Arndt.  He was predeceased in 2010 by his loving wife of 60 years, Doris Elaine (Martin) Arndt.

He served in the US Navy and Reserve for 8 years and 9 months. He began working at the age of 14 mowing grass and did not slow down until he was in his 80’s.  He and his wife started Arndt’s Ice Cream in 1954, which served as a local favorite for many years.  He worked for H.L. Bowman in Harrisburg as a certified HVAC specialist, and was skilled in the electrical and plumbing trade.  He was known for his ability to fix anything.  Most importantly, he was a committed and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend who served Christ and lived by His word.

He is survived by a daughter, Susan Durham of Carlisle; four sons, Thomas and wife Gloria of Hummelstown, Edward and wife Diana of HI, Mark and wife Heather of MD, and John Arndt and wife Sandy of Hershey; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 27th at Noon at God’s Missionary Church, 2127 Hill Street, Lebanon, PA 17046 with Rev. Alan Walter officiating.  Family and friends are invited for viewing on Thursday, October 26th from 6 to 8 PM at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 and from 11 AM until time of service at the church.  Burial will follow in Campbelltown United Christian Cemetery.
