Joseph G. Deeney

Joseph G. Deeney, 78, passed away peacefully with family by his side at the Hershey Medical Center, Hershey on Tuesday, May 7, 2019.  He was born Friday, April 11, 1941 to the late Edward J. Deeney Claire T. (Riehm) Deeney. He is predeceased by his loving wife Claudia Deeney.

Joe met the love of his life, Claudia, while they were in high school, they married in 1962 and had three daughters. He was an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force, where he served as a Chaplains Assistant. Joe worked many years as a food broker and in sales and spent his retirement years enjoying time with his wife, dog and family. He was a lover of 50’s music, Willie Nelson, German Shepards, and the Philadelphia Eagles but he loved nothing more than his wife, daughters and  grandchildren. He was a dedicated member of his church and was especially grateful to have recently traveled to South Carolina to visit his brother and extended family.

He is survived by his daughters, Claire Mika, Jane Mannon and husband Chris Haring, and Ann Messner and husband Eric; grandchildren, Edward, Adam, Sarah, Andrew, Tristan, Chris, Alex, Nick and Mikey; and a brother, Edward J. Deeney, and wife Virginia.

Memorial mass will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 11AM at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 300 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078 with Father Anthony Dill officiating.  A time of visitation will be held from 10AM until the start of the service.  Burial will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
