Katherine L. Bicksler passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Masonic Village. Born in Bellwood, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Eleanor (Riley) Lowther. She was married to Homer J. Bicksler for 47 years until his passing in 1988.
She graduated from Dickinson Seminary and attended Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Kay worked as a secretary for the Palmyra school district. She was also a soloist at weddings and in church choirs, and the director of a children’s choir. Her most important job, however, was being a loving mother and grandmother to her family. She had a strong spiritual grounding, and was filled with love and grace. She was a confidant and friend to many. Kay had a zest for life, and she and her husband were community oriented, with many civic and religious interests.
She is survived by five children: Eleanor Sue Taub, Ann McFadden, James Bicksler, Barbara Frame, and Robert Bicksler, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30PM on Wednesday. August 15, 2018 at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078. A private burial will follow at Hamlin Cemetery, Fredericksburg, PA. There will be no viewing prior to the service.
