Leroy Martin Horning, 79, of Annville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at home with loving family by his side.  He was born Wednesday, September 9, 1936 in Hinkletown to the late Moses and Elsie (Martin) Horning.  He was predeceased on Monday, December 16, 2013 by his loving wife of 56 years, Evelyn Marie (Nolt) Horning.

Leroy was a member of Weaverland Mennonite Church and attended Lebanon Valley Bible Church.  With an 8th grade education, he started building furniture with the family business, Horning’s Chair Shop, Hinkletown.  After marrying, he and his wife started making furniture in a chicken house and in 1963 they opened Horning’s Furniture, Annville.  From 1978-1986 they owned the Canterbury House restaurant, Palmyra.  Leroy opened Horning’s Pedal Cars in Hershey where collectors as far as Norway came to his annual open house in October.  He had a creative mind and was always dreaming up his next project.  He enjoyed woodworking, restoring pedal cars and tractors and traveling to Florida and car shows around the country.  He had a generous spirit and had a heart for the church and missions.  He lovingly took care of his wife during her illness and was a testament to their wedding vows “in sickness and in health”.

He is survived by five children, Kathy L. King and husband David of Atglen, Suzanne M. Horning of Annville, Donald E. Horning and wife Wendy J. of Annville, Darlene F. Bosworth and husband David of Annville, Sally J. Moyer and husband Eric of Manheim; eleven grandchildren, Ashley King, Lindsay Putney, Katelyn King, Garrett Bosworth, Derek Bosworth, Hannah Moyer, Caden Horning, Kailey Horning, Connor Horning, Broden Moyer, Camden Moyer; two sisters, Arlene Martin and husband Lester of Denver, and Erla Mae Martin and husband James of Tamaqua; many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by an infant brother, Leon Earl Horning.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 14th at 10 AM at Lebanon Valley Bible Church, 1482 Horseshoe Pike, Lebanon, PA 17042 with Pastor Chandler Cutting officiating.  Family and friends are invited for visitation on Wednesday, April 13th from 6:30 to 8 PM at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 and on Thursday from 9 AM until time of the service at the church.  Burial will follow in Weaverland Mennonite Cemetery, East Earl.
