Marilyn Metherell

Marilyn Metherell, 73, of Harrisburg entered eternal life on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Community General Hospital after a courageous seven year battle with cancer.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.  She was the wife of William “Bill” Metherell for the past 38 years with whom she enjoyed her retirement by spending time with family, camping and being with friends, always helping others. 

In addition to Bill, she is survived by her daughter Lori Riddle of Hummelstown, son Tim Fake and wife Janet of Elizabethtown, step daughter Julia Metherell of Holiday, Florida, sister Pat Bray of Hershey and brother Chuck Kray and wife Sara of Hershey.  She also has five grandchildren and one great grandchild, all of whom were her constant joy.  Marilyn was preceded in death by her father and mother Stanley and Irene Krajewski of Palmyra.

Marilyn was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 20, 1943, moved to Palmyra in 1959 and graduated from Lebanon Catholic High School in 1960.  She attended Thompson Institute in Harrisburg and spent almost 30 years with and retired from the Hershey Company in 2002 as a manager of training.  After retiring, Marilyn devoted herself to her family.  She also enjoyed reading and spending time with friends.  She was always caring, concerned, and genuinely excited and happy for the good things that happened in other’s lives and prayerful regarding the challenges. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, where Bill and Marilyn were members, 6150 Allentown Boulevard, Harrisburg, PA  17112 on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 11 AM with the Very Reverend Edward J. Quinlan as Celebrant.  Closed casket visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of the Mass on Monday.  Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marilyn’s memory to Homeland Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way #205, Harrisburg, PA  17110 or Furry Friends Network of Pa.   Arrangements have been entrusted to the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA  17078, 717-838-9211.
