Mark Joseph Long, 71, of Decatur, TX, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2015. He was born Saturday, April 29, 1944 in Gettysburg to the late George Henry and Marie Catherine (Keiser) Long.
He proudly served 3 tours in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam. Mark enjoyed the outdoors. He played football and baseball at Delone Catholic High School. Mark’s professional expertise was with computers and he was an avid Civil War and Gettysburg buff.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nonnie Johnson of Sapula, OK; 2 daughters, Dru Gebhard and husband Brent of Grantville and Christy Rinker and husband Steve of Harrisburg; 9 siblings, Charlotte Folkenroth of Blue Ridge Summit, Doris Hartzel of Arendtsville, Phyllis Chrismer and Joseph Long of New Oxford, Melvin Long and wife Ginny of Hanover, Levere Long, Burnell Long, and Darlene Long of Bonneauville, and Mary Lee Noel and husband Richard of Gettysburg; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Bernard Long.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 1st at noon at Church of the Holy Spirit, 245 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 with Father James F. Podlesny as Celebrant. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 11 AM until time of the service. Burial with full military honors will follow the mass in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra 17078.
