Paul Richard Bucher

Paul R. Bucher, 87, of Palmyra, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016 surrounded by his family at home. Born Thursday, February 28, 1929, he was the son of the late Allen G. and Katie (Henry) Bucher. He was married 69 years to Ruth M. (Lehman) Bucher of Palmyra.

Paul was a 1946 graduate of Palmyra High School. He continued his support by helping plan class reunions and was actively involved in the presentation of the cougars at both the high school and middle school. He was the owner of Bucher’s Deli and retired in 1989. He enjoyed woodworking and golf. A member of Palmyra Church of the Brethren, Paul was a member of the church bowling team and, played and coached the church softball team.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Fred E. Bucher and his wife Nancy of Palmyra; a daughter Brenda L. Bucher and her husband Russell of S. Annville Twp.; a sister Barbara M. Wagner and her husband Elvin of Annville; four grandchildren: Christine M. Seabrook (Matt), Maple Glen, PA; Eric R. Bucher (Jennifer), Annville; Jonathan Bucher (Laura), Kenmore, WA and Brian Bucher (Holly), Delaware, OH; ten great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Paul was predeceased by numerous brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Palmyra, Church of the Brethren, 45 North Chestnut Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 at 11:00 AM. There will be no viewing. Family visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Palmyra Church of the Brethren designated for the Renovation Fund or to the Good Samaritan Fund at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, 1200 Grubb Road, Palmyra, PA 17078.
