I met my 'rafiki' (friend) as we would fondly referred to one another in 2010 when I visited Pa as an exchange student with Mennonite Central Committee and we clicked as we would often meet during choir practice and church services. He grew fond of me.
Reverend was kind and loving. I remember instances that he came home to where I was staying at the parsonage to fly me on two occasions, that was special for me as a black African who had not even stayed in US for a year. I remember him flying me without Judy knowing and only to see my pictures on Facebook!
I remember us tickling and laughing, I remember the Swahili lessons I took him through, I remember the many emails we shared.
Beautiful moments.
Major, I salute you! Go in peace rafiki.
Allan Juma,
Nairobi, Kenya.

Dear Family,
I will only remember your husband, father, friend as a strong, vital man who had a fervent desire to spread the gospel so that no one would miss the promise of salvation. He was high spirited, fun and a teaser- he was what I would call "nixie." I will remember him with his boistrous laugh and quick wit. I will miss him, but treasure his memory. In His Love Jini

So sorry to read of the passing of Chaplin Gordon. Always enjoyed his great smile and his company, while we served in the PA National Guard for many years. May God bless the family and friends and be assured he RIP

To a man who served both God and his country in a manor for others to follow, his dedication will surely missed.
