Richard L. Shimp

Richard “Rick” L. Shimp of Key West, Florida (formally of Palmyra, PA) passed away peacefully on July 18, 2017 at the age of 70.

Born on January 31, 1947, he was the son of the late Cyrus L. and Pauline (Miller) Shimp. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol (Winters) Shimp; a sister, Donna Shimp; a brother, Terry Shimp; and his first wife, Suzanne (Mcgarvey) Shimp.

Rick was a graduate of Palmyra Area High School and Elizabethtown College where he earned his masters degree. He taught for the Palmyra Area School District until he retired and moved to Key West with his wife, Carol.

Rick loved to golf, fish, and spend time with his family and friends.  He had a great sense of humor and liked to joke around and have fun.

Surviving are his daughters Michele Wilson, wife of Allen; Jill Good, wife of Geoff, sons Mark Winters, husband of Cindy, Vince Winters, husband of Maureen, and Todd Winters; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at the convenience of his family. Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078.
