Richard E. Slichter

Richard Edgar Slichter, 88, of Palmyra passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.  He was born on Saturday, July 20, 1929 in Chambersburg to the late Norman E. and Mary O. (Fritz) Slichter.  He is survived by his loving wife Gladys L. (Zeger) Slichter. 

Richard was a 1947 graduate of Chambersburg High School.  He proudly served in the United States Air Force and was employed by the Federal Government as a Property Disposal Officer.  Richard had a passion for automobiles, was a member of the Hershey Region Antique Auto Club and the AACA, he enjoyed attending and watching Indianapolis 500 and NASCAR races.  He was a faithful member of Palm Lutheran Church and a member of Masonic Lodge 704, Mount Olivet.  Most importantly he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by a daughter, Candace MacAdam and husband “Mac”; 2 step-grandchildren, Pamela MacAdam and Robert Jason MacAdam and wife Tasha; 4 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Marianne Slichter. 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at 11 AM at Palm Lutheran Church, 11 W. Cherry St., Palmyra 17078 with Reverend Kate Warn officiating.  Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10 AM until time of the service.  Burial will take place in Lincoln Cemetery, 950 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, PA 17201 with military honors.   Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078.    

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor Palm Lutheran Church.
