Robert L. Bechtel

Robert Lewis Bechtel, 80, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center following a brief illness.  He was born Saturday, August 4, 1934 in Lebanon County to the late Lewis and Emily (Immel) Bechtel. He was married to Miriam L. (Yeich) Bechtel for over 57 years.

A Veteran, Bob proudly served with the U.S. Army.  He worked at Hershey Foods for over 40 years.  Bob will be remembered for his love and knowledge of cars and his adoration for dogs.  Above all, Bob enjoyed being a husband and grandfather and spending time with his family. 

In addition to his wife, he will be lovingly missed by a son, Jeffrey A. Bechtel and wife Pamela; a grandson, Matthew R. Bechtel; a granddaughter, Meghan L. Bechtel, all of Palmyra; four siblings: Pearl Frantz, of Palmyra; Edith Gordon and husband Harry, of Palmyra; Leroy Bechtel and wife Jean, of Manheim; Sterling Bechtel and wife Dianne, of Annville as well as Bob’s extended family and caring friends.  He was predeceased by three brothers, Norman, Lewis Jr. and James Bechtel.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 11 AM at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA  17078 with The Rev. Julia A. Beall officiating.  Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Annville with Military Honors.  Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to view at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM and also from 10 AM until the time of the service on Thursday.
