Robert J. Middleton, 87, of Palmyra passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was born Monday, November 28, 1927 in Joplin, Missouri to the late Norman C. and LaVone E. (Calvert) Middleton. He was married to Anna (Oribe) Middleton on June 26, 1959.
A Veteran of WWII, Bob proudly served with the U.S. Navy. He went on to serve with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a High School Industrial Arts Teacher for over 30 years. He was an avid woodworker and in his younger years, he enjoyed surfing (even making his own surfboard) and racing motorcycles. In his later years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, was a Ham radio operator and even held a private pilot’s license. Above all, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, teacher and friend.
In addition to his wife of nearly 56 years, he will be lovingly missed by two daughters, Nancy A. Middleton and husband Dave Wrable, of Merritt Island, FL, Carol J. Middleton and husband Judson Weiss, of Grantville; five grandchildren, Jarrad, Mason and Kasey Mistishen, Ellen and Sophia Weiss as well as Bob’s extended family and caring friends.
Committal Services will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA with Military Honors. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078.
