Sophie P. (Kormancik) Mowery

Sophie P. (Kormancik) Mowery, 93, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2015 in Spang Crest Manor.  She was born Monday, April 10, 1922 in Treverton to the late John and Mary (Megewa) Dudeck Kormancik.  She was predeceased by her loving husband Michael A. Mowery. 

She was a faithful member of Church of the Holy Spirit.  Sophie worked for Hershey Foods in the Kiss wrapping department and for Kraft Foods in the Marshmallow department before retiring from Sears as a division manager.  Most importantly she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. 

She is survived by a daughter, Sharon J. Correale; 2 granddaughters, Carla C. Irvin and husband Christopher and Nina M. Correale and fiancé Jason Bennett; and 2 great-grandsons, Zane M. and Everett A. Irvin.  She was predeceased by a grandson, Andrew John Correale; and 8 siblings, Michael, John, Walter, Jean, Josephine, Victoria, Helen, and Christine. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 2nd at 12:30 PM at Church of the Holy Spirit, 245 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 with Father James F. Podlesny as Celebrant. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 11:30 AM until time of the service.  Burial will follow the mass in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra 17078. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Columbia Cottage Employees Fund, Attn: Christine Horn, 103 N. Larkspur Dr., Palmyra 17078.
