Thelma Marie Conard

Thelma Marie Conard (nee Burcham), a resident at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home in Palmyra, was received into the arms of God on Tuesday the 3rd of November while at home with her loved ones.

Born February 18, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York, Thelma was married at the tender age of nineteen to her life-long sweetheart, George P. Conard.  The couple went on to raise five children on Long Island, and then retired to Hershey some twenty years ago.

Kind-hearted, loving and sweeter than chocolate, Thelma loved reading, watching figure skating, and anything sweet (especially ice cream!).  She adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved little more than laughing with her loved ones.  Her eyes always lit up when she was surrounded by her family!

Thelma is survived by her elder sister, Winifred Roa, and her children - Linda Schantz, Gail Caravella, Ronald & Dorothea Conard, and Robert & Suzanne Conard - though her eldest son, George, sadly preceded her to Heaven.  Her large, happy family includes a bevvy of grandchildren, as well as several great-grandchildren.  There was never a doubt that Thelma loved each and every one of them, endlessly.

A Memorial Service for Thelma will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 6th, 2015 at Palm Lutheran Church, 11 West Cherry Street, Palmyra, PA  17078 with Pastor John D. Merkel and Father James F. Podlesny officiating.  Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the church from 10 AM until the time of the service on Friday.  Committal Services will be held at 3 PM on Friday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA  17078.
