Theresa Ann (Iozzo) Montesano, 88, of Palmyra, died at home in Londonderry Village, Palmyra, on Friday, June 15, 2018. Born in White Plains, NY on April 4, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Lucy (Sestito) Iozzo, born in White Plains, and Nicholas Iozzo, born in Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy. She was the wife of Frank S. Montesano, who preceded her in death on June 11, 1983.
Theresa was the longtime secretary at Church of the Holy Spirit, Palmyra and St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Steelton, and retired from the Compensation Department at the Hershey Company.
After retirement, she became an accomplished watercolor artist and served as treasurer for the Hershey Area Art Association. Earlier in life, Theresa was a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Palmyra Woman’s Club, Palmyra School Board, Palmyra Zoning Board, and American Business Women’s Association. She was very involved as a member of Holy Spirit church; most notably, she helped establish the Holy Spirit Bereavement Ministry, which she led for many years.
In addition to her husband and parents, Theresa was preceded in death by a son Ralph Montesano, and a brother Joe Iozzo and his wife Santa.
She is survived by a son Nick Montesano and husband Arnold Teixeira of Ocean Grove, NJ; a daughter Maria Boyer and husband David of Palmyra; daughter-in-law Vicki Montesano of Macungie, PA; six grandchildren: John, Matt, Marc, Liza, Joe and Maggie; five great-grandchildren: Raven, Madelyn, Grayson, Elijah and Elyse; two sisters: Rosemarie and husband Louis DeMarco of West Harrison, NY and Ann, wife of the late Gene Pentenero of White Plains, NY; two sisters-in-law: Fannie and husband Jack Burns of Fruitland Park, FL and Barbara, wife of the late Sam DiPietro of Harrison, NY; and six nieces: Sandra, Nanci, Joann, Anamarie, Sandra and Gina.
Theresa’s family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Londonderry Village, especially in Leffler Care, for taking such good and loving care of her during the last years of her life. She was always comfortable and happy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 at the DiMatteo Worship Center, Londonderry Village, Palmyra at 11:00 AM. Viewing will take place on Thursday, June 21 at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home, 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra from 5:00-7:00 PM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
