William Cardimona, 92, of Palmyra, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Country Meadows of Hershey. Born Wednesday, July 30, 1924 in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Guiseppe and Virginia (Porco) Cardimona. He was married 71 years to Elvira M. (Miceli) of Palmyra.
With over 35 years of government service, William retired in 1980 from the Ships Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg. A 1942 graduate of Coughlin High School, he was a US navy veteran of WWII, and was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He was active for many years with the Areba Club and was an avid photographer and videographer. He was also a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Palmyra and was known as someone always doing for others. William enjoyed over 40 years of retirement, especially the time spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Anne C. Schreiber (G. William) of Lebanon and Janice L. Carroll (Patrick) of Dillsburg; a son Edward V. Cardimona (Todd Blumenthal) of New York City; a granddaughter Marcella K. Schreiber of Lititz; two grandsons: Weston E. Schreiber (Abby) of Baltimore and Tyler J. Cardimona of Hummelstown; and a great granddaughter Olive A. Schreiber.
William was predeceased by a son William J. Cardimona and his wife Beverly and eleven siblings: Dominick Cardimona, Frank Cardimona, Anita Moreira, Irene Tryzenski, Nikolas Cardimona, Mary Lidondici, Joseph Cardimona, Stella Martino, Albert Cardimona, Rose Phillips and Helen Augusto.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home, 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra at 1:00 PM. Viewing will be from 12:00 PM until the time of service. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
