Albert “Al” “Buddy” C. Henry was born in Union Deposit, PA on February 18, 1931, the son of the late Clarence E. and Mary V. (Zeigler) Henry. Al passed away with family by his side on Monday, June 26, 2017.
He attended elementary school in Union Deposit and graduated from Rome Free Academy, Rome, NY in 1948 (Salutatorian). He graduated from Utica College (Valedictorian) of Syracuse University (Salutatorian) in 1952; B.S. in Accounting; Summa Cum Laude. Al was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma national business honorary society and Alpha Kappa Phi social fraternity.
Recruited by Price Waterhouse & Co. , New York City, upon graduation, Al also worked in Cali, Colombia (1954-1956), New Orleans (1958-1965), and the New York City National Office (1965-1980). Price Waterhouse recognized Al’s knowledge and ability to interpret the rules and practices of accounting and auditing. During his years assigned to the National Office, Al was often asked to write or edit material for internal and external publications and speak at educational functions. He retired in 1980 to be with his aging parents in Palmyra, PA.
Al had many fond memories of Cali, New Orleans, and New York City. He loved to reminisce and share stories with his family about the good times and people he met throughout his career. One of his favorite sayings was “Laissez les bons temps rouler” (Let the good times roll)! In later years, he was a regular at Lisa’s Café in Palmyra enjoying the food and fellowship.
Al is survived by many cousins. He was a lifelong Lutheran following his confirmation at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rome, NY. Anyone wishing to make a donation in Al’s memory is encouraged to send contributions to Palm Lutheran Church’s Mortgage Fund, 11 W. Cherry St., Palmyra, PA 17078.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 11:30 AM at Gravel Hill Cemetery, 54 Gravel Hill Rd., Palmyra, PA 17078 with Rev. Dr. John D. Merkel officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078.
