Betty Mae (Henricks) Schaffner

Betty Mae (Henricks) Schaffner, 99, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Born Tuesday, April 15, 1919 to the late Franklin H. and Phoebe Edna (Neidig) Henricks.  She is predeceased by her loving husband since 1997, John Henry Schaffner.

As a Registered Nurse she worked many years at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon.  Betty was a faithful member of the Bethany United Methodist Church in Palmyra and was also a member of the business and professional women’s club in Lebanon.  She was an avid reader with a love for cross word puzzles, card playing, sewing, and quilting.  Most importantly she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her children: Betty J. Gilb and husband Dan, Marion “Maddie” L. Reed and husband Greg, and Terry D. Schaffner; grandchildren; Michelle Brinton and husband Doug, Dennis C. Gilb and wife Rosie, Doug C. Gilb and wife Ruth, Julie Sherod, Greg A. Reed and wife Clare, Amy S. Wildasin and husband Dave, and Jennifer L. Kristich and husband Dan; and 14 great-grandchildren.  She is predeceased by her sister Jane G. Kline.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, Febuary 1, 2019 at 10AM at the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078 with Pastor Jared Stoltzfus officiating.  A time of viewing will be held from 9AM until the time of service.  Burial will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
