Bonnie Jean Chambers (ne McNulty) of Palmyra, Formerly of Airmont, New York, died unexpectedly after a short illness in Penn State Hershey Medical Center on October 10, 2018 in Hershey, Pennsylvania at the age of 70.
Bonnie is survived by her sister, Patricia McNulty of Martinsburg, WV; brother, Thomas McNulty (Stephanie) of Huntington Station, NY; sons, James Chambers (Courtney) of Selkirk, NY and Robert Chambers of Philadelphia, PA; and nieces and nephews, Jeanine McNulty, Thomas Anthony McNulty, and Nicholas McNulty, of Huntington Station, NY and Matthew McNulty of Benson, NC. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Chambers, and her parents.
Bonnie was born on June 6, 1948 in Huntington, NY to the late Robert and Lois McNulty. She graduated from State University of New York at Oswego with a degree in Education in 1970, and the Pace Lubin School of Business with an MBA in 1989. Bonnie met William Chambers at SUNY Oswego, and they married on January 30, 1970. After moving to Rockland County, Bonnie taught at Orangetown School District as a Math Teacher. At the end of her career, Bonnie was the CFO of Risk Insurance Management Society. In 1976, their first son, James, was born, and they welcomed their second son, Robert, in1980.
Bonnie loved to travel and explore the world, particularly with her sister, Patti McNulty and best friend of over 50 years, Nicki Macallair. In the years before her death she traveled to Poland, Italy, Bermuda, China, Africa, the Galapagos Islands, Machu Picchu, Cuba, and Alaska to name a few. After her retirement, she also became an accomplished golfer and enjoyed golfing with her friends. Bonnie was passionate about doing her part to make the world a better place, both through her work at All Saints Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Diocese of Central Pennsylvania, and also through political activism.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on November 10, 2018 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 310 Elm Avenue, Hershey, PA with a reception to follow at the same location. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bonnie's life.
