Brett and Gil were my childhood neighbors and I have so many wonderful memories of climbing trees, chasing the neighbor's dog, Bingo, and carefree summers playing in our backyards. Thinking of everyone whose lives Brett touched...

He was one of my favorite faces here at HACC. Better than a security guard because you never felt as if anything bad would happen when he was around. You are missed bro!

The day God called you home
God looked around his garden
And He found an empty place.
He then looked down upon this earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw that the road was getting rough.
And the hills are hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered “Peace be thine”.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone
For part of us went with you
That day that God called you home

I knew Brett during his Security work at HACC Harrisburg campus. He also went through our FTO class where he excelled. He was a friendly face around campus always with a smile and many kind words. He shall truly be missed.

It is with sadness that I write these simple words remembering a colleague who gave his all to his peers and, most importantly, HACC students. Needless to say, his positive memory will live on in my life and in those he worked closely for years to come. May all of us who knew him be somewhat consoled by the fact that his winning ways made each of our days a bit better in many ways.
In closing, the following quote may have some relevant meaning for those of us gifted to have known him: "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but love leaves a memory that no one can steal."
