Cpl. Scott H. Coanshock, PSP

Pennsylvania State Trooper Corporal Scott H. Coanshock, 40, born June 7, 1977 in Altoona, PA lost his battle with cancer on July 18, 2017 at 6:29 PM.  He was surrounded by family and friends and peacefully entered the Kingdom of God. 

He is survived by his parents Frank and Kathleen (Carpenter) Coanshock; his brother Gregory F. Coanshock and wife Amanda (Schlueter); Uncle John C. Carpenter (Marie); Aunt Adele Carpenter Lewis (James), Aunt Darlene Coanshock Maccie (Joseph); numerous cousins and extended family; and the brothers and sisters of the Pennsylvania State Police.  He was predeceased by beloved grandparents, Frank and Rose Coanshock and Henry and Genevieve Carpenter. 

Scott attended St. Patrick Church and School Newry, PA, St. Mary School Hollidaysburg, PA, 1995 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School Altoona, PA, 2001 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA where he earned his Bachelors of Science.  He was a member of the 124th Class from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in 2007, there he was awarded the Daniel F. Dunn High Scholastic Award.  He served the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania with integrity and honor, attaining the rank of Corporal. 

He touched all our lives with his deep devotion to God, family, and country.  He was truly a man blessed with a warrior heart and a fighting spirit.  He will forever be in our hearts, a man of quiet presence, humor, and personal ethics.  He lived a life true to his Lord Jesus Christ. 

Special note of gratitude to his devoted team of doctors, who made this journey with Scott and share our love for him, Doctors Charles Reninger, Jennifer Reninger, Ashraf Youssef, Devanand Dominique, Jordan Klein, and Howard Cohen.  You all supported Scott’s decisions and gave him great encouragement.  Your faithfulness to healing will inspire us all to help others. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at noon at Church of the Holy Spirit, 245 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078.  Family and friends are invited for visitation on Monday, July 24th from 5-7 PM at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra and on Tuesday, July 25th from 10:30-11:30 AM at the funeral home.   

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his honor to PA Troopers Helping Troopers Foundation, 3625 Vartan Way, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
