Daniel Thomas Francis, 49, of Hummelstown, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at his home. He was born Wednesday, December 18, 1968 in Ridgway to Raymond W. Francis of DuBois and the late Marjorie S. (Cummiskey) Francis. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Michele Ann (Geer) Francis.
He graduated from DuBois Central Catholic in 1987, attended Gannon University and earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana University of PA, Masters Degree in clinical psychology from Edinboro and returned to IUP for his certification in school psychology. His professional career began and ended at the Harrisburg School District with a stop at the Capital Area Intermediate Unit. He was an active member of the Church of the Holy Spirit where he and his wife were involved in Pre-Cana and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was Director of the CV Eagle Foundation Buddy Program. His adventurous spirit and love of chocolate was at home riding roller coasters with his family at the Sweetest Place on Earth, Hersheypark. He enjoyed camping, hiking, climbing, and all who were blessed to know him will remember his witty charm, sense of humor, and comical dancing. Most of all he was a loving husband, father, and friend who lived out his faith and motto, “Drive fast, take chances!”
He is survived by four children, Jack, Madelyn, Nina, and Eliana Francis; six siblings, Suzanne O’Neil and husband John, CDR (Ret) Joseph Francis, US Navy and wife Nancy, R. Patrick Francis and wife Karen, John Francis, Mary Beth Stoltz and husband Harry, and BRIG GEN David Francis, US Army and wife Jodie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 6th at 11 AM at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 300 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 with burial following in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday, October 5th from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM with The Holy Rosary being recited at 7:45 PM at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra and on Saturday from 9:30 AM until time of Mass at the church.
