Elvin Witmer

Elvin Wilbur Witmer, 91, of Hershey, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Hershey Medical Center. Born in Bachmansville, he was the son of the late Samuel and Sarah (Barley) Witmer. He was widowed by Christine (Wolfe) Witmer in 2005.

Elvin was a proud veteran of the US Navy. He traveled the country for reunions with his shipmates, who he continued to remain close with.  He previously worked for Roadway Express as a carpenter, and enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. He retired from Hershey Foods. Elvin’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He is survived by his children: Kenneth E. Witmer (Deborah) of Hershey, Sandra K. Lehman (Samuel) of Columbus, OH, Gary L. Witmer (Shelley) of Middletown, and Wanda G. Etnoyer (William) of New Cumberland; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; brother Glenn Witmer; and sister Darlene Murray. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078 with Reverend Samuel Fry officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11AM prior to the service. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
