Glenn R. Stoner, 91, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully at Londonderry Village on Monday, December 31, 2018.
Born on a farm near Lawn, PA on August 23, 1927, to the late Sherk and Maude Stoner, he graduated from Hershey High School. At age 16, he began work as a mechanic at The Hershey Company where he retired after 47 years of service. He also served with the US army in 1945 at the end of WWII.
He will be remembered as a kind, quiet, loving father and grandfather whose greatest joy was spending time with his family. He enjoyed many family vacations to local destinations and annual family beach weeks, a tradition for nearly 55 years. He was a life long Phillies fan and could be found many times listening to a game on his radio.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeannine A. Stoner and four children: Linda W., wife of Dr. J. Edward Dagen of Carlisle, John H. Weaver and wife Michele of Hershey, Jeffrey L. Weaver and wife Karen of Hershey, Lori A., wife of Dr. Gregory C. Fanelli of Danville, PA. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and was predeceased by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11AM at the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078 with Reverend Mary Eller officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 10AM until time of the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Good Samaritan Fund, Londonderry Village, 1200 Grubb Rd., Palmyra, PA 17078.
