Heiner “Henry” Haardt, 85, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at ManorCare, Elizabethtown. He was born August 15, 1932 in Melhbach, West Germany to the late Karl and Rosa Haardt. He is survived by his wife Doris Marie (Serfass) Haardt.
He was a professional soccer player in Kaiserslautern, Germany and New York. He was an avid fan of soccer, watching it every chance he could. Henry was employed at Ronson and later at Allergan Optical as a mechanical engineer. He held many patents for contact lenses. Most importantly he was a loving husband, father, step-father, and grandfather.
In addition to his loving wife, Henry is survived by a daughter, Michelle Perry and husband Thomas of Palmyra; 5 step-daughters, Barbara Serfass, Carol Altemose, Diane Anderson, Sharon Weidman, and Deborah Faulstick; a granddaughter, Emilee Perry; 10 step-grandchildren; and a brother, Karl Haardt, Jr.
There will be no services held. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078.
