Richard Nelson Fair, 93, of Hershey, passed away with his loving family by his side on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Columbia Cottage in Palmyra. He was born Thursday, June 4, 1925 in Hummelstown to the late Samuel H. and Bessie D. (Kettler) Fair. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mildred Jane (Nye) Fair.
Dick graduated from Hershey High School Class of 1944, proudly served in the US Army during WWII and retired from Hershey Foods as an associate technologist. In his early years, he drove truck for his father-in-law, Ralph Nye, hauling milk, fuel oil, and coal. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hershey Historical Society and attended Sherks Church. He enjoyed surf fishing on the DE coast and traveling with Mildred in their camper, had a well-used workshop in his basement, and carried an appreciation for the simple things in life.
He is survived by a son, Jeffrey S. Fair of Lazy Mountain, Alaska; two grandchildren, Ian Fair of NY and Carrie Fair and her husband Paul Durfee of NH; two great grandchildren, Puckerman and Ryatt Durfee; and a brother, Donald E. Fair of Lebanon. He was predeceased by two brothers, Leon G. Fair and Lester F. Fair, and three sisters, Edith Dahlin, Jean Fisher and Gladys Loper.
Private burial with family and close friends present took place in Hershey Cemetery on Tuesday, July 3rd at 11:00 AM. Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 has been entrusted with the arrangements.
