Robert C. Gainer, Jr.

Robert C. Gainer, Jr., 77, of Palmyra, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Hershey Medical Center. Born Saturday, June 8, 1940 in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the late Robert C., Sr. and Sarah L. (Royer) Gainer. He was married 55 years to Barbara M. (Conway) Gainer of Palmyra.

Robert was a 1958 graduate of Hershey High School. From 1957-65 he was employed at Hershey Farms where his father was the Maintenance Supervisor. He was a sales representative for Moore’s Lumber from 1968-91 and worked for Wilhelm’s Hardware from 2001-2016. Robert was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan, and enjoyed hunting and bowling.

In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by a daughter Melissa M. Gainer of Lancaster; a son Gregory A. Gainer and his wife Kimm of Lebanon; and a sister Carolyn Hurd of Chambersburg.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Salem United Church of Christ, 2761 Horseshoe Pike, Campbelltown, PA 17010 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 until the time of service. Interment will take place in Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery.
