William S. Lightner Obituary

William S. “Bill” Lightner, 35, of Palmyra, died unexpectedly after a long, brave battle with addiction. Born January 7, 1983 in Hershey, he was the son of Jody Lightner of Palmyra.

Bill was a self employed machinist with M&B Machine Shop in Mechanicsburg. He was very creative and artistic, and had many instructional videos on YouTube. He loved reading and kayaking, but most of all spending time with his children.

In addition to his mother, Bill is survived by five children: Daniel Lightner of Denver, PA; and Vera, Beverly, Russell and Carl, all at home; their mother, Bonnie Hahn; maternal grandparents Jeanne and Sam Lightner, paternal grandmother Anna Deaven; aunts and uncles: Danelle Watts and husband Edward, David Lightner and wife Paula, Daniel Lightner and wife Angie, and Edward Lightner; numerous cousins and companion Mandi Hodge.
Bill was predeceased by his son Roald Lightner.

Bill was a wonderful and sensitive person with so many gifts to share. His family knows that his final gift will be to bring awareness and help erase the stigma of this crushing disease. Bill had many successful years battling addiction until very recently. They do not want Bills passing to be just another statistic.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: I Care Foundation, PO Box 309, Middletown, PA 17057.
