Charlene “Choddy” (Fortenbaugh) Brinser, 84, of Middletown, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. She was born to the late James Fortenbaugh and Kathryn (Deimler). She is predeceased by her loving husband since December 31, 2007, John R. Brinser, III whom she married July 3, 1954.
Choddy graduated from Middletown in 1953, she later retired from the school district after serving many years in the cafeteria. She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, a member of the Alumni Association, and also the American Legion Post 594 Auxillary. In her spare time she enjoyed crochet and cross stitching and spending time at the beach. She absolutely loved Christmas but most importantly she was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.
She is survived by her children: J. Michael Brinser and wife Tyna, Alan Brinser and wife Debra, Karen Halliday and husband David and Lisa Beach and husband James; grandchildren, Christopher Smiley and wife Jennifer, Justin Smiley and wife Reagan, Katelyn Brinser, Matthew Brinser and Jonathan Beach; great grandchildren; Cameron, Kinsey, and Ainsley Smiley; and brothers, James Fortenbaugh and Michael Fortenbaugh and wife Cynthia.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2020 from 10 to 11AM at the Fager-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 208 N. Union St., Middletown, PA 17057 in compliance with the COVID-19 regulations. Burial will take place at Geyer’s Church Cemetery, Middletown.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Middletown Alumni Association, 55 W. Water St., Middletown, PA 17057 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
