David Rock Obituary

David M. Rock, 82, formerly of Guilford, passed away on Sunday, April 11th at the VA Medical Center in Lebanon, PA. Born Monday, January 2, 1939 in New Haven, he was the son of the late Herman and Mildred (Tillman) Rock. Dave was a longtime Guilford resident, and a popular businessman in Madison, where he was the sales manager of Mark Ford, and co-owner of East River Pizza and Marsh View Auto Sales. Dave also owned Banjo Beat in Branford, and performed with his band, Dave Rock and the Country Gents in the 1960s and 70s. 

A 1957 graduate of Guilford High School, Dave was well liked and respected by many, having the gift of gab and a generous spirit. A US Navy Veteran, Dave was a member of St. Alban’s Masonic Lodge; former member of New Haven Sportman’s Club and the Guilford VFW. Always looking for a new adventure, he enjoyed boating, cooking, flying planes and traveling the country after retirement.

In addition to his parents, Dave was predeceased by his adored daughter, Debbie Rock Chittenden; his sisters Baylia Angus and Mildred Pacilio, and a step-father Henry Doebrick.

He is survived by his devoted daughter Tracey Yasi (Richard) of Marietta, PA; former wife Diane of Marietta, PA; son-in-law Michael Chittenden of Branford, CT; grandchildren: Timothy Yasi, Heidi Yasi, James Lindgren, Brittany Lindgren and Jesse Chittenden, and four great grandchildren.
