George Gustave Bory, Sr, 75, of Palmyra, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at the Hershey Medical Center. He was born April 21, 1947 to the late Gustave George and Rose (Mirabile) Bory. He is survived by his loving wife, Veronica (Dunlavey) Doherty.
George was a dedicated and loving family man with a great sense of humor, a hearty laugh and a huge heart. His quick wit and passion for life won him many loyal friends in all phases of his life. He is best known for his honesty and genuine personality and his ability to easily connect with people. George was a skilled craftsman and could fix just about anything. He was a proud steamfitter for Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union #373. He was also a Free & Accepted Mason with more than 50 years of service, most recently with Brownstone Lodge #666 in Hershey PA. He loved being outdoors and physically active. He cherished his time with his entire family boating, waterskiing, camping, fishing and, later in life, playing golf. He was a passionate New York sports fan and enjoyed watching the Yankees, Rangers and Giants. His true love was watching his extended family of children and grandchildren play sports. His seven grandchildren were the light of his life – telling jokes, reading stories, trips to Hershey Park – time with “Poppy” was never short of magical. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend with a lasting legacy for many many years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children: George Bory, Jr., and wife, Tina Bory; Patricia Bory, James Bory, and Patrick “P.J.” Bory and wife Mae Whitmer Bory; grandchildren, Gus, Micah, Evelyn, Linnea, Koan, Amaya, and Holden; sisters, Evelyn Raymond and Christine Bonney; and the mother of his children, Joan Bory.
