Joan Marie (Parker) Varano, 98, of Palmyra, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Lebanon Valley Home, Annville. Joan was born on Tuesday, December 12, 1922, in Shamokin, PA, to the late Matthew and Katherine (Meenahan) Parker. She was the youngest of seven children. Joan was married to Anthony “Tony” A. Varano for over 62 years until his death on November 9, 2006.
Joan is survived by three children: Patricia Sosnoskie, married to Charles, of Shamokin, Theresa Davis, married to Michael, of Palmyra and Gary Varano, married to Carol, of Harrisburg. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, twelve (very soon to be 13) great-grandchildren as well as Joan’s extended family and caring friends.
Joan was a strong, faith filled woman. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Palmyra, since 1972. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be remembered as a source of love and support to all.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the administration and staff at Lebanon Valley Home for the gentle, loving care they provided to Joan during her nine years as a resident.
A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Private interment will take place in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
