John R. Corbin, 71, of Palmyra, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at home. Born Friday, April 13, 1951 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Stanley R. and Nora J. (Benyon) Corbin.
John was a 1970 graduate of Palmyra High School where he ran track and cross country. During his time on the track team, he won a state championship and he set the two mile relay record which stands to this day. John went on to serve in the US Air Force during Vietnam. He worked for Kraft Foods, and both the Army and Navy Depots. He was a former member of the Palmyra Jaycees and enjoyed fishing. John played guitar and loved the Beatles. Earlier in life he played guitar for the youth mass and as a boy served as an altar boy. He was an AVID model train enthusiast!!!
John is survived by a son Matthew A. Corbin of Palmyra; a daughter Stephanie L. Corbin of Kent, WA; two grandsons Dylan Corbin and Rory Eckerd; a step-granddaughter Audrey Moser; a brother James A. Corbin of Palmyra; and two sisters: Eileen Drust and husband Eugene of Lakewood, OH and Kathy Snavely and husband Irvin of Manheim.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home, 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17022 at 1:00 PM. Viewing will be from 12:00 PM until the time of service. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
