Kevin D. Shutt

Kevin D. Shutt, 65, of Campbelltown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at Hershey Medical Center.  Born Tuesday, August 16, 1955, in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Clayton and Helen (Gingrich) Shutt.  He was married to Linda K. (Skinner) Shutt on June 14, 1980.

Kevin was a 1973 graduate of Central Dauphin East High School, Harrisburg.  He worked for the Department of Revenue for 25 years and also worked for H&R Block for 15 years, and was affectionately known as “TaxMan Kevin”.  He will be remembered for his love of all professional Philadelphia Sports, Penn State Football, the Hershey Bears and listening to an assortment of music, especially Billy Joel.  Kevin had a passion for all types of auto racing and was formerly a photographer for Area Auto Racing News for Silver Spring Speedway as well as various NASCAR races. In his earlier years, Kevin enjoyed bowling, playing tennis, coaching soccer, and was a girl’s softball coach for Linglestown Baseball Association.  He was a member of the Order of Knights of Pythias and a former member of the Palmyra Jaycees and Palmyra Lions Club, where he helped teach BB gun use and safety.  He was also a former member of the Campbelltown Fire Company where he would assist with Bingo on Friday evenings.

Kevin was a member of MTOI (Messianic Torah Observant Israel), and his example of obedience, total peace with and total trust in his creator was a powerful testimony to others.

In addition to his wife, Linda, of over 40 years, he is survived by a daughter, Dawn J. Shutt, of Campbelltown.  Also surviving is a sister, Beverly Noel, of Harrisburg, two nieces and one nephew, as well as Kevin’s extended family and caring friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Shutt.

Services will be held (in compliance with COVID-19 regulations) at the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA  17078, 717-838-9211.  A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 from 10-11 AM and the funeral service will take place at 10 AM on Monday, October 12, 2020.  There will be no viewing or visitation prior to the service at 10 AM on Monday, October 12, 2020.  Burial will follow the funeral service in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
