Margaret E. (Ferguson) Pfoutz was born to Kelly and Wilma (Bunting) Ferguson on August 29, 1933, as the youngest of three children. She went home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 18, 2021. West Virginia was her home until she entered college. After becoming a Registered Dietitian at Case Western University, she had a long and distinguished career as a public health dietitian. For her service as the director of the West Virginia Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, she was inducted into the West Virginia Public Health Hall of Fame.
Throughout her life, Margaret has joyfully served her Lord, family and friends. She married Richard W. Pfoutz in 1986 gaining a son and 2 grandchildren. They were dedicated to one another until his death in 2007. She has mentored, taught and loved many young people, particularly those in her church family. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marilyn Ferguson Wagner, brother James Alan Ferguson, husband Richard W. Pfoutz, and step-son Richard L. Pfoutz. She is survived by daughter-in-law Susan Pfoutz Smereck; grandchildren: Eric and Beth Pfoutz; great grandson, Tarren Pfoutz; nieces: Esther Baker, Carol Cornish, Darla Hosteadler and cousins including Earlene Vittone and family. There are many other Ferguson and Pfoutz relatives including Lorraine Pfoutz, Edward Pfoutz and family, Judy Pfoutz Wolford and family.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers who supported and cared for Margaret. We have special gratitude for William and Sharon Williams, Rhonda and Joel Woodall and their family for their support and care as well as their family in Christ.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM (in compliance with Covid-19 regulations) on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Miller -Finkbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022, 717-367-1543, with Reverend David Watts officiating. Burial will follow in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. A viewing will be held from Noon until the time of the service on Saturday.
