Melanie R. (Funk) Olson

Melanie R. (Funk) Olson, 52 of Palmyra, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Carolyn’s House in Harrisburg. Born Tuesday, February 4, 1969 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Ruth (Gasiorowski) Funk and the late Robert Funk. She was married 16 years to Joseph R. Olson.

Melanie was a 1987 graduate of North Hills High School and earned her Bachelor’s degree from Alderson-Broaddus University in Philippi, WV. A physician’s assistant, she was employed in the Pediatric Neurosurgery Department at Hershey Medical Center. She enjoyed traveling and loved most spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband and mother, Melanie is survived by her son Nicholas R. and daughter Abigail R. Olson, both at home; a brother Donald Funk and wife Marjorie of Canton, OH; and two sisters: Susan Clay and husband Edward of Rockwood, PA, and Cindy Marchese and husband David of Zelienople, PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Wednesday, July 14th from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home, 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday July 15th at 11:30 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 300 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078. Interment will follow in Hershey Cemetery.
