Richard Etter, Jr. Obituary

Richard Maurice Etter, Jr., 71, of Carlisle passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.  He was born Saturday, August 23, 1952 in Harrisburg to the late Richard Maurice Etter, Sr. and Gladys Ruth (McGraw) Etter.

He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1970 and began his professional HVAC career with Tuckey Mechanical Services and Blacks Mechanical Services.  He was the owner and operator of Etters Heating and Air Conditioning specializing in residential and commercial HVAC—forever known for his tag line “Don’t bitch call Rich.”  He lived his life to the fullest, always the life of the party.  He was a member of many social clubs, including Carlisle Elks, Moose, White Circle, AM Vets, Eagles, American Legion, The Mechanicsburg Club, and the Minnequa Social Club.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, Jimmy Buffett and anything where he could have a good time and party.  He will be remembered for his larger than life smile and his motto, “I may get in a lot of trouble, but I have a lot of fun doing it!”

He is survived by his three children, Nicholas Etter and fiancé Tara Karper of Carlisle, Michael Etter and fiancé Regina McCann of Carlisle, and Michelle Baker and husband Chad of Carlisle; seven grandchildren, Alexis Etter, Sarah Etter, Blake Etter, Lyla Baker, Bryson Baker, Coleby McCann, and Brycen McCann; five siblings, Linda Garman, Jay Etter, Karen Etter, Joan Wiser, and Susan Losh; many nieces, nephews and extended family.  He was predeceased by his long time loving companion Annie; a daughter-in-law, Karen (Griffie) Etter; a brother, John Etter, Sr.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, March 6th at 5 PM at the Carlisle Evangelical Free Church, 290 Petersburg Road, Carlisle, PA 17013 with Pastor Shad Baker officiating.  Family and friends are invited for visitation from 4 PM until time of the service at the church.  Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
