Ronald Ashcraft Obituary

Ronald D. Ashcraft, 70, of Marietta, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Hershey Medical Center. Born in Johnstown, he was the son of the late DeWayne and Ruth (Stiffler) Ashcraft. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia G. (Mason) Ashcraft, his three children: Michelle D. Haviland and husband John of Richmond, VA, Thomas M. Ashcraft of Buena Vista, VA, and Ronald M. Ashcraft and wife Elizabeth of Hershey; six grandchildren: Jakob, Kaleb, Keaton, Sarah, Robert, and Nora, and two sisters: Sonia Keiper and husband Glenn of Duncansville, and Bonnie Whitaker of Bristow, VA.

Ron was a loving husband, brother, and father; a true family man. He and Patty married young and built a life of love and hospitality. He taught his children many valuable lessons through his actions such as the importance of family, loving your neighbors, and serving others without expecting anything in return. He gave each of them a love of the outdoors and a good home-cooked meal. All of his grandchildren adored their Pap Pap. He spent countless hours with each enjoying vacations, camping, and fishing as well as shopping at The John Deere Store and Five Below, Jim Mack’s Ice Cream trips, and Saturday morning yard sales.

He loved his sisters, Bonnie and Sonia, loved his brothers-in-law like the brothers he never had, and was always there for his sisters-in-law. He loved his nieces and nephews like they were his own. He enjoyed family get-togethers and vacations and was often cooking meals or making a requested treat like his fudge, pies, or apple dumplings. He was a loyal friend to a special few whom he treated like family. Even if you weren’t family, he welcomed you in with open arms, always willing to open his home, share his campsite and dutch oven creations, or help you fix something. He was loved by many and will be remembered for his kind-natured spirit.

Ron was a faithful member of E-town Grace for 47 years, serving in many different capacities, and a member of the Marietta Lions Club, Milton Grove Sportsman Club, and Conoy’s Lunkers Club. He fell in love with his little river town of Marietta many years ago by serving as their cable man. He loved it so much he bought a house and moved his family there where he resided until his passing.
