Virginia “Ginny / Nan” E. (Derby) Sarabok, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 13, 2021 with her loving family by her side. She was born Saturday, July 18, 1931 to the late Hugh H. and Jeanette (Smith) Derby. She is predeceased by her loving husband Joseph John Sarabok.
Ginny was one of 12 children. She remained close with all of her siblings and was proud of her coal mining heritage. She waitressed at the Italian Lodge and HERCO and volunteered at the Caring Cupboard. She was a member of Sr. Spirit and the Areba Travel Club and was an avid Penn State fan. Her most treasured role was being the CEO of the Sarabok family.
She enjoyed telling stories, cooking, zuppa soup, shopping for a great bargain, attending criminal trials with her dear friend, spending time with her immediate as well as extended family and trips to her condo in OC. She was creative, crafty and comical when faced with challenging situations. She was also passionate about helping others in their time of need.
Ginny is survived by her children: Joseph J. Jr. Sarabok and wife Kathy, Gregory D. Sarabok and partner Kim Spangler, and Jeffrey T. Sarabok and wife Jennifer, Gail Belt and husband Charles, and Ginger A. Sarabok; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Ann Seip, Margaret “Peggy” Davidyock, and Patricia “Patsy” Balogach; and brothers, Clarence “Topsy” Derby and Hugh Derby. She is predeceased by her siblings, Louise Hoch, Jeanette Coniglio, Sarah Gerber, Mary Vrablic, baby Gail, and Colson Derby.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 6-8 PM at the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. with a time for attendees to share their thoughts and stories at 7PM. On Thursday, September 23, viewing will be held from 8:45-9:45 AM followed by a funeral service and time of sharing at 9:45. Burial will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville at 11:30 AM.
