Eugene T. Woolley, 87, of Palmyra, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rosalia “Ditty” Snyder Hollis Woolley.
Gene was born on December 4, 1930 in Reading, PA to Eugene and Mary Woolley. He was predeceased by his first wife, Rita Arnold Woolley.
Gene was a graduate of Lebanon High School, Class of 1949 and a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He served as a Senior Air Policeman, in New Orleans and in North Africa. He spent his career in marketing with Bell Telephone Company and AT&T. Gene’s community service included Board membership on both the Palmyra Interfaith Manor and Palmyra Lions Club. He was a long-time member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Palmyra, where he served on Pastoral Council.
As husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, his greatest joy and devotion was to his loving family. He is survived by 8 children and their spouses, Mary and John Taylor, Anne and Michael Sieck , Thomas and Margaret Woolley, Theresa and John Bond, Tim and Jackie Woolley, Patrick and Robyn Woolley, Neil and Michelle Hollis, Marie and Mark Sindicich; his 18 grandchildren: Ben and Nick Finio; Chris, Katie and Jenny Sieck; Matt, Claire and Jan Woolley; Andrew, Kevin and Peter Bond; Emma, Thomas and Maggie Woolley; Ava and Sarah Woolley; and Kai and Raine Sindicich. Gene also had two great-grandchildren: Samuel Lyons-Finio and Natalie Finio. He was also an extended father figure to many friends and family.
The visitation will be held Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078. The Funeral Mass will be Monday, January 22, 2018 at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 300 W. Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 with visitation from 10:00-11:00 am, the Rosary being prayed at 10:15am and Mass at 11:00am. Interment with full military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Caring Cupboard Food Pantry, www.caringcupboard.org or the Good Samaritan Fund of Londonderry Village, www.londonderryvillage.org.
The Woolley Family extends their deepest thanks to the medical professionals who cared for Gene over the past few years: Dr. Peter Lewis and the many physicians and nurses at the Hershey Medical Center; the nursing staff of the Londonderry Village; and the staff of Just Like Family.
