Karen Elizabeth Koennecke, 71, of Palmyra, PA – formerly Lansdale, PA passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Hershey Medical Center. Born in Norristown, PA she was the daughter of the late Henry C. and Elizabeth (Fuder) Kopp.  She was preceded in death by her husband Gerhart in 2001.

Karen graduated from A. D. Eisenhower Senior High School in 1961. She worked for many years with her beloved husband at J. Ambrogi Food Distribution, Inc. in New Jersey before retiring and moving to Palmyra to be with her son Kurt G. Koennecke. Karen enjoyed gardening, was a pianist with a strong love of music, and the ability to make a house a loving home.  Karen enjoyed traveling and vacationing at Walt Disney World with her grandchildren.  Above all, Karen was a dedicated wife, mother, foster parent, beloved friend and loving grandmother.

Karen is survived by her three children: Deborah L. Petrecca of Palmyra-Formerly of Quakertown, PA, Cynthia A. Lauffer of Fairfax County, VA, Kurt G. Koennecke, husband of Corey, of Palmyra, PA; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters: Dianne Harris, wife of Warren, of South Carolina, and Anita Fusco, wife of Jim, of North Carolina: and brother Joseph Kopp, husband of Katie, of Arizona.

A viewing will be held on Monday, August 24, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078. A brief prayer service will conclude the viewing time, with Rev. Dr. John D. Markel officiating.  

A second viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 from 2-3 PM with prayer service, at the Chapel in White Marsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pk., Ambler, PA 19002, Pastor Susan Lynch officiating. Burial to follow in the memorial park, reception after for friends and family at Spring Mill Country Club, Warminster, PA.
