Mary Jane (Bomgardner) Eckenrode

Mary Jane (Bomgardner) Eckenrode, 88, of Annville and formerly of Palmyra, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at The Lebanon Valley Home, Annville.  She was born Friday, May 28, 1926 in Campbelltown to the late Paul B. and Mary B. (Barto) Bomgardner.  She had become lovingly known as “MJ” by her family at The Lebanon Valley Home.

She had a hairdresser license and also retired from The Hershey Chocolate Factory with 31 years of service.

She had great enjoyment watching her flowers grow and having people walk by expressing their admiration as she sat on her porch.  Another passion of hers was collecting antiques and other fine collectables.  Playing Bingo at The Lebanon Valley Home was a fun time for her as well as shopping trips.

She is survived by her children, Cynthia Hostetter (John), Thomas Eckenrode, Sr. (Eustena) and Joseph Eckenrode, Jr.; Granddaughters: Lisa Smith (Darnell) and Holly Lyter (Robert); Grandsons: Christopher Hostetter, Dennis Eckenrode (Adrienne), Thomas Eckenrode, Jr. (Danielle), Rodney Eckenrode (Sharon) and Scott Eckenrode; Great Granddaughters: Taylor and Ashlyn Eckenrode, Taylor Lyter, Caroline Eckenrode and Samantha Gettle (Robert); Great Grandsons: Steven Long, Cooper Eckenrode, Thomas Eckenrode III and Logan Lyter.  She was predeceased by a great granddaughter, Maura Eckenrode, a sister, Dorothy Howard and a brother Carl Bomgardner.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA  17078.  Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.  Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to view at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
